AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF
THE STONE MOUNTAIN MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION, 2006,
AS AMENDED TO CHANGE CAMPING ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association that “The Code of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, 2006″, is hereby amended by adding the following stipulation into the current language of 4-108 Camping Section of said Code upon the adoption of the following addition thereof:
Proposed modification to Ordinance 4-108, “Camping”:
Camping.
It shall be unlawful for any person to set up tents, shacks, or any other temporary shelter for the purpose of overnight camping in the Park’s Natural District, nor shall any person leave in the Park after closing hours any movable structure or special vehicle to be used, or that could be used, for such purpose, such as a house-trailer, camp-trailer, camp-wagon or the like, except under special permit of the Chief Executive Officer or his designate and at such places and such periods as may be designated. Camping must be confined to Park-approved camp areas which are provided to insure cleanliness and good appearance
Modification of Ordinance 4-108 includes the addition of the following language at the end of the current Ordinance:
“Long-term camping, for a period greater than twenty-nine (29) days, is generally prohibited. However, to the extent the Stone Mountain Memorial Association has, by contract, engaged a private entity to oversee the operations of the Park, including but not limited to overseeing the operations of the Park campground, said private operator may, at its discretion, issue no more than forty-five (45) long-term camping permits for the sole and exclusive use of its employees, with each such permit allowing the use of an overnight camping spot by said employee for a term of thirty (30) days or greater, provided that each such permit is evidenced by a written long-term camping agreement between the private operator and the employee, with the terms of which to be approved by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association.”
